"Sorry, got caught up with some work stuff. I think Thursday's going to work better. You available then?"
These words become the talk of town for the CS:GO community after a series of developments came from @csgo_dev, the game’s official Twitter account.
The traction began when the usually silent and enigmatic social media account tweeted "What are you doing Wednesday?" last December 3 which was immediately hyped by the community as a potential teaser for a huge update.
Wednesday came and the anticipation was huge for the fans, especially when the account changed its background and profile photo. From the typical dark blue and yellow ensemble with the signature silhouette of an operative, the page now sports a red and black combination for the silhouette and background of what seems to be an negative styled illustration of rats.
The hype was swatted however as the page followed up with the above mentioned tweet. But as it says “Thursday's going to work better”, fans continue to speculate on what game developer and publisher Valve is cooking up for their celebrated FPS game.
Fans have split opinions regarding CS:GO’s sudden shift of social media engagement. Some are making the most out of the potential memes that the hype can generate just like Reddit user u/ZilexEeqz.
But some fans are also anticipating more seriously, like a possibility of a new Operation.
It is notable that the last Operation that CS:GO released was way back May 2017 with the Operation Hyrda. Since then, CS:GO only had a couple of huge updates with the last being the addition of two new maps Biome and Subzero to the game.
Whether or not Valve is dropping in a big update or not is not guaranteed but one thing is for sure, fans want their dose of fresh stuff for Global Offensive.
