#EZ4ENCE: ENCE continues miracle run with grand final appearance at IEM Katowice

All eyes are now towards the representatives of Finland after they completed two successful upsets by taking down tournament favorites Natus Vincere at the semifinals of Intel Extreme Masters Season XIII - Katowice Major 2019.

Map 1: Train

The semis kicked off on Train where Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev Aced the pistol round to give Navi a 3-0. Both teams exchanged series of rounds to wrap the half 8-7 in favor of the Ukrainian squad.

Upon the switch, the CIS group went on to stretch the lead by as far as 14-10, but captain Aleksi "allu" Jalli came to life with clutch rounds on his AWP along with Sami "xseveN" Laasanen’s 4K to claw their way back and earn map point. Allu then closes out Train with a triple much to the anticipation of the crowd.

Map 2: Dust 2

Navi despite dropping a map they are well-known for went to Dust 2 unfazed. They took the first two rounds before Jani "Aerial" Jussila managed to respond for ENCE with a quadkill on connector. However, that turned out to be the lone highlight for the Finns as Navi steamrolled past them towards the half 13-2 and up to the end of the map 16-3.

Map 3: Mirage

It all boiled down to one last map – Mirage. A map known as an Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev special, Navi was pushed to the limits as Aerial delivered the performance of his life against s1mple himself. Navi got a huge advantage that stretched as much as 12-6 behind s1mple’s tremendous sniping, but once again ENCE regained life when allu finally went alive after starting out flat to the series 12-12.

xseveN eventually took the lead for ENCE by denying s1mple’s 1v3 clutch attempt. With Navi losing the economy battle, it was up for ENCE to close out the series and complete another tremendous upset as they march towards the finals of the IEM Katowice Major.

They will face Astralis today who managed to take a 2-0 win over MIBR.

Despite losing, s1mple was the best performing player on the server with a 99.5 ADR and 32-19 KD total.

This will be the first ever Major grand final appearance for ENCE, with four out of their five players coming to Spodek Arena as first time Legends.
