This is the year of the West
LoL Esports is in a state of EUphoria right now.
Welcome to a new era
League of Legends Esports introduces a new brand to everyone – this is the League of Legends European Championship (LEC).
Six years worth of history and building legacies in esports, Europe is finally getting its much-awaited championship. The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) is the new name for League in EU.
We move the game forward, proudly united by our passion for world class competitive play and incredible spectacle.
LoL Esports has been listening intently to Summoners, with Europeans in particular wanting a League of their own – thus, the LEC was born.
It's easy to set apart LEC from the rest. Aside from its new name, LEC also has a new look featuring a font set, illustrations, and two new colors.
LoL Esports announced that it will be launching the LEC by next year, January 18, 2019. Oh, the EUphoria!
So far, ten teams have been confirmed for the LEC set to happen in 2019. These teams are: Fnatic, Origen, G2 Esports, SK Gaming, Rogue, Vitality, Misfits Gaming, Schalke 04, Excel esports, and the newly-formed Splyce.
The question everyone's been asking?
The talk of the town (and probably a big shocker to everyone) was Origen joining the LEC. Renowned player and founder of Origen xPeke (Cedeño Martínez) has announced a total reset for Origen.
Worlds 2018 qualifiers FNATIC, G2 Esports, and Team Vitality is also a part of the LEC. The pool of contenders can only grow from hereonout. #WeAreEU
