Na’Vi finished at a respectable second place.
The second round of the Dota Pro Circuit is about to begin, but before that we have Megafon Winter Clash and the ESL One Katowice. Megafon Winter Clash, which is one of the last LAN tournaments of 2018, came to a conclusion today. The winner of the tournament is Team Liquid, who had a dominating run throughout.
But the limelight was definitely stolen by Na’Vi. Out of the six teams that participated in the tournament, five were direct invites. And Na’Vi was not one of them. The team made its way through the closed qualifiers, defeating the likes of The Final Tribe, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Vega Squadron and many more.
Na’Vi stood first in its group stage, delivering a massive upset as it defeated Virtus.Pro and pushed them to the lower bracket. Their group was closely contested - Secret, VP and Na’Vi - all of them had a win and a loss under their belt. Counting individual wins and losses rather than the series put Na’Vi on top.
Going to Group B, Team Liquid came out dominant, as it did not concede a single loss. Forward Gaming and PSG.LGD were put in the lower bracket.
In the playoffs for the upper bracket, Liquid won against Na’Vi and went to the finals. PSG.LGD reached the losers' finals, where it fought Na’Vi. Na’Vi again surprised the audience by defeating PSG.LGD by 2-0. The final match saw Na’Vi duke it out against Team Liquid once again. But Team Liquid continued its dominating run, defeating the Ukrainian Team 3-0.
In the whole tournament, Liquid did not lose a single match.
Team Liquid will be taking home $150,000 out of the $300,000 prize pool.
