The memes that graced Dota 2 in 2018

We bring to you some of the best Dota 2 memes from 2018.

2018 was quite eventful for the world of Dota 2. There were amazing stories all around, and a lot of controversies as well. But there were also some lighter moments, which spawned some great memes. Here are some of our favorites, in no particular order:

“Still not top tier?”

After EG defeated VP at the ESL One Genting, Sumail tweeted the following.

It was in reference to community doubting the status of EG as a tier one team, as they had not been doing so well during that period. But unfortunately, EG suffered a massive defeat to Liquid the next day, and the tweet was immortalized as a meme.

Pizza Party

This is probably the most famous meme of 2018. After Fnatic qualified for ESL One Katowice, which was a DPC Major, the team held a pizza party. In the now infamous incident, EternalEnvy unceremoniously kicked Ohaiyo off the team during the party, to make way for Universe. Domino’s Malaysia did not miss the opportunity, and went for it.

Lakad Matatag

“Lakad Matatag! Normalin, Normalin”. These liners right here are the lines that defined TI8. Originally said by the Filippino casters, Marlon “Lon” Marcelo and Aldrin “Dunoo” Pangan, the chat wheel line became instantly famous and was used all throughout the season, in pubs and in professional matches as well. And then there was GabeN himself.

Happy ending

This meme was spawned amidst the controversy regarding Demon’s allegations against Team Admiral. Demon alleged Team Admiral management of mistreating him, and Team Admiral came out with their own side of the story. They also alleged that Demon was provided with massages with a ‘happy ending’ while he was in the team.
