Dota 2 has a lot of fans around the world, and India has seen a steady growth in esports with Dota 2 being one of the leading esports title in the country. Needless to say, ESL One Mumbai, which will be the first premier international tournament in India where top teams from throughout the world will be participating, is seeing a lot of hype.
Among the top tier teams that will attend the tournament, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance have already been confirmed for the tournament. Meanwhile, according to Cr1t, Evil Geniuses might not be able to attend it. The fans of the game in the country have been left dismayed after Na’Vi announced today that they will not be attending the tournament.
Na’Vi made an official post announcing the same on their blog, saying that they would skip the tournament. They cited their busy schedule packed with tournaments as the reason for their inability to participate. They were supposed to play Elements Pro Gaming on the 27th of Feb.
In the announcement, they said:
“Due to the busy tournament schedule NAVI.GG.BET Dota 2 team will skip ESL One Mumbai 2019, which will take place from April 19 to 21 in Mumbai, India. So, the game against Elements Pro Gaming, planned for February 27, is cancelled.
Very soon Natus Vincere is going to take part in an online tournament Tug of War by WePlay (February 27 — March 2), then will play at DreamLeague Season 11 (March 14 — 24). Upon returning from Sweden, the Born to Win will play the qualifiers for the next Major.”
This announcement has come as a disappointment to fans, but the hype for the tournament is still going strong.
