NRG takes first grand final seat at cs_summit 3

NRG Esports stormed the Summit House as they book the first grand final seat after a 2-1 triumph over tournament favorites BIG Clan.

Making NA proud

The hometown boys came charging since the beginning of the tournament, first taking down fellow NA hopefuls Ghost Gaming before disappointing the European mixture of Heroic at the semis.

Damian "daps" Steele and his gang await the winner of the lower bracket finals where BIG Clan is set to face Optic Gaming of Denmark. The two will face for the second time in the tournament, with the first one during the semifinals where BIG upset Optic through a comeback 2-1 win.

Sent earlier than expected to the lower bracket, Optic made sure they will last long enough at the Summit House by taking 2-0 wins over Ghost Gaming and Complexity Gaming consecutively.

Packing home early

Team Kinguin and G2 Esports came all the way from Europe. However, their trip to Los Angeles was pretty short-lived after both teams went winless in the LAN. Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas’ young men fell to Heroic and Kinguin respectively – with an 8:32 round performance against Heroic in 2 maps. The French delegation meanwhile had a hard time against BIG Clan before running out of gas in a 1-2 twin overtime defeat against Complexity Gaming.

This breakdown from G2 imposes an alarm from the group since they haven’t won a single LAN tournament after taking the DreamHack Masters Malmö trophy in their home turf September last year.

Bringing in quality entertainment

As always, Beyond the Summit sees to it that games in their LAN will be just as good as their funsies – or better. The usual team posters are there – but was given a spooky flavor considering the Halloween season. There were also fun segments like the (not so) good short raps from Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert and company, as well as the fairly challenging Blind CS:GO Challenge.

The lower bracket finals and grand finals of the cs_summit 3 is set today. The grand final will be a best of five series with NRG claiming a 1 map advantage coming from the winner’s bracket.
