Reunion? Shroud-led former Cloud9 stars team up for Minor Qualifiers

The Americas Minor Championship of IEM Katowice 2019 Major is getting all hyped up as the cast of the 2015 Cloud9 lineup led by Michael "shroud" Grzesiek joined forces to make a comeback at the pro scene – or not.

shroud together with fellow ex-C9 players Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert, Sean “sgares” Gares, and Major Champion Tyler “skadoodle” Latham teamed up with Samuel "SileNt" Portillo for Old Guys Club. The stack made it to the closed qualifiers of the Americas Minor after storming the last open qualifier along with Test Takers.

Interestingly, this will be the first time that shroud plays at a Minor qualifier in the history of his pro career. And as far as the now celebrated streamer shows, Major qualifiers are a bit more complex than he expected.

Cranking up the memes

The meme game is even getting stronger for the NA stack as shroud also suggested that he might be bringing in fellow streamer and close friend DrDisrespect as a coach if ever they crack their way to Poland. His ‘announcement’ even gathered the attention of the official CS:GO Twitter page @csgo_dev.

The CS:GO Reddit page is also readying up with the return of the four ex-pros. Today’s Reddit homepage mostly talks about shroud and company. As far as redditors are concerned, OGC matches will most likely feature top tier entertainment as suggested by user u/ShadowScheme1.

The stack will stream their matches on their respective Twitch channels. They will be joined by 15 other teams led by eUnited, NRG Esports, Ghost Gaming, Rogue and the returning Luminosity Gaming which now has the majority of the Immortals lineup that saw action at the PGL Krakow Major 2017 finals. Also, Team Envy will try to stage a return at the Major as they field in their NA roster.

Considering their vast experience as pros, do you think the Old Guys Club can punch their tickets to the IEM Americas Minor in Poland? Or will they even make it further and save themselves a slot at the Major itself?
