Secret wins the Chongqing Major

Secret defeated Virtus.Pro to lift the Chongqing Major trophy.

One of the most controversial tournaments in the history of Dota 2 has finally concluded, bringing the second round of DPC 2018-19 to an end. Even though the tournament had a lot of bad publicity, including the absence of staple Dota 2 talents like RedEye and Godz, the matches themselves were amazing.

Today, the grand finals of the Chongqing major took place in a much anticipated match between VP and Team Secret.

Game 1

VP was outplayed by Team Secret right from the drafting as Puppey proved why he is one of the best drafters in the game. VP’s Shadow Fiend pick proved lacking as the Timbersaw and Phantom Lancer on Secret dominated the game. The match ended quickly, with Secret winning with a score of 20-9.

Game 2

The second match saw VP being completely decimated by Secret, as the match lasted mere 17 minutes; the shortest match at the Chongqing Major. The Drow lineup coupled with Luna worked quite well for them.

Game 3

With their back against the wall, VP headed into the third match with immense pressure. At the 20-minute mark, Secret had destroyed VP’s barracks. But VP staged a comeback after a teamfight where they wiped Secret. After much to and fro, VP finally won the last match.

Game 4

The fourth match had a standard early game with skirmishes here and there. But things began to fall apart for VP at the 22-minute mark where they lost all their heroes during a team fight. Secret then cruised to a 30-11 finish, winning the series 3-1.

Team Secret will walk away with $350,000 and 4950 DPC points. Secret and VP are leading the DPC with 7950 points each, and have secured an invite to TI9.
