7 teams confirm for bigger StarSeries Season 7

StarSeries is looking to bring the bigger names in China with the reveal of the invites for StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 7.

The first seven teams to confirm for the Shanghai fragfest in March 30 will be led by global rank mainstays Team Liquid and mouseports. Ninjas in Pyjamas, MIBR and NRG are also invited to head on to the East along with Team Wild of Brazil who secured their spot after winning the GAMECON Open CS:GO 2018. The invites is completed by Tyloo who is looking to defend their homeland.

All in all, five of the seven teams belong to HLTV's top 10 power rankings.

Bigger pot and bigger guns

StarSeries also revealed the increased prize pool of their tournament. From $300,000 USD, the organization cranked up the pot by adding another $200,000 USD making Season 7 the biggest StarLadder event in its history.

The increase will likely get the attention of bigger organizations. The 6th Season of StarSeries which happened last October at Kiev – just a couple of weeks after the FACEIT Major - saw setbacks after a couple of organizations backed out of the tournament due to ‘busy schedules’. There, Aleksi "allu" Jalli's Ence Esports stormed the competition and won the championship.

Now heading back to China, the increased prize pool may help to be a decent reason for teams to prioritize the event. Absences of top tier teams in tournaments at the East is old news for some, hence the upcoming Season 7 will bring a lot of fresh CS:GO to the Chinese audience.

Other changes will include a return of the best-of-three format for the Swiss stage - which StarLadder describes as 'the most successful and objective system' - after the previous event used a best-of-one format in the opening stage.

There are still six invites that are yet to be revealed along with three more qualifier spots for the European, American and Asian regions. All these remaining qualifiers will be held this December with regional invites to be revealed soon.
