Torte De Lini has decided to bring back his Dota 2 hero guides projects in partnership with Rivalry.gg
Dota 2 is notoriously known for its complexity and steep learning curves. Every hero is built differently, with well over a hundred items in the game. The items in Dota 2 provide stat bonuses and have certain abilities of their own, and every hero is best with different items (for instance, a blink dagger might not work well with Anti Mage, or a Refresher Orb might not be needed on Tinker).
To help make things easier, a hero decided to work tirelessly to continuously update and build guides for all of the 120 heroes in the game. And that hero is Michael Cohen, popularly known to the Dota 2 community as Torte De Lini.
So it is natural, when he announced his retirement a couple of weeks back, for the whole Dota 2 community to be disheartened. His departure lead to the Dota 2 community crowning ImmortalFaith as his successor, but it looks like he will have to wait a bit longer to sit on the throne.
Torte De Lini has decided to come back, and Rivalry.GG, a betting site, is making that happen. In a Twitter announcement, Torte De Lini said that he had been ‘recommissioned’ by Rivalry.gg to revive his Dota 2 Hero guides project.
In their own announcement, Rivalry said:
When we heard he was stopping with the guides, we reached out to see if he’d be interested in continuing them and in return, give us a bit of brand exposure.
Dota has never had any kind of real tutorial, and his guide system has been one the ways players reliably keep up to date with effective builds, patch changes, and new heroes. Dota has always been driven by community creators, and that’s what we are looking to support (exposure is great, but dedicated creators deserve dedicated support).
Rivalry also have a Reddit thread here, so that the community can discuss about the announcement.
