Virtus.Pro wins the Kuala Lumpur Major

VP won the Kuala Lumpur Major against secret in a full five-match Grand Final

The first major of the season has come to an end, and Virtus.Pro is the winner. This is indeed a strong start for the Russian team which will take home $350,000 and 4,950 Dota Pro Circuit Points. Secret, on the other hand, will be taking home $170,000 and have amassed a total of 3,000 DPC points.

The Kuala Lumpur Major came to an end with a full five-match series between Team Secret and Virtus.Pro. The match was the chance to exact revenge for VP, as they had been dropped down to the lower bracket by Team Secret earlier. They had earlier fought and won against EG in the lower bracket to advance to the grand finals.

Both the team drafted some peculiar cores in the first game. VP's first position was a Brewmaster on Ramzes, while Team Secret drafted a core, mid Shadow Shaman. It did not go well for Secret, as VP stomped the game completely and won 37-13.

The second game saw secret going for a mid Broodmother pick on Midone. Yapzor on his Weaver made some great rotations, and Secret's Arc Warden as well has Broodmother had plenty of space to farm. Secret maintained the gold lead and control throughout the match and won.

The third game too saw a really close laning stage. But it all soon changed around 25 minutes when Secret team wiped VP in a Team match. This gave secret a huge gold lead and set the ball rolling for them, putting Secret in a 2-1 lead.

The fourth match started off really close again, with no significant gold lead on wither side for about 20 minutes. Both the teams were getting pickoffs and trading kills, but VP did a good job of securing farm for Ramzes' Terrorblade. In the end, with a GPM of 897, Ramzes carries VP to a victory, and the series to a 5th deciding game.

The final match saw some great plays by both of the teams. It seemed as if the match would go Secret's way after a fight that killed four heroes on VP's side, which included both their carries. But VP soon recovered after that when they killed both the carries of secret twice in a span of about five minutes. This gave VP a jump in the gold lead, and they had Secret pinned to their bases. Finally, VP won the match, becoming the first Major champions of this season.
